COMMUNITY GROUPS

You were not made to live life on your own. Jesus calls us to step into community to experience his grace through others. In the messiness of sharing life, we laugh together, we cry together, we pray together. In true community, we know each other deeply and become a family. The Church is not just a Sunday morning event. It is during the six days between Sundays that we start to experience the Church as it was meant to be.

Our mission as a church is to multiply gospel communities that love God, love people, and push back darkness. Gospel communities are small, diverse groups that meet in homes all around our city throughout the week. These Community Groups are the primary place where you will experience discipleship, care, and mission at Frontline.  Whether you are young, old, married, or single, we encourage you to check out a Community Group close to you and get plugged in!

LOVING GOD IN COMMUNITY

Just as a great meal is better with friends the sweetness of Christ is better savored in community.

In the same way a car was created to run on gasoline, we were created to run on God. Jesus told us that we are to love our God with all our heart, mind, body, and soul. We are however sinners by nature and choice. Our sin keeps us from loving God. The gospel is only way we can love God. Jesus has paid the penalty for our sin and brought us back into relationship with the Father. Because God first loves us in Christ, we can enjoy Him as we were created to do. We are invited to respond to His love together in community. We do this a number of different ways. We love God by reading and studying His word together, worshipping in song , making disciples, confessing and repenting of sin, and praying to him with thanksgiving. God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.

LOVING PEOPLE IN COMMUNITY

As we learn to give and receive ministry between Sundays, we start to become a real church and not just a Sunday morning event.

The gospel doesn’t call us to a “just me and Jesus” mentality. Jesus tells us that the second greatest commandment is like the first – we are to love our neighbor as ourselves. In Acts chapter 2:42 we see the first gospel community, and what we see is a group of people that are known by their love. We don’t point to Jesus or grow to be more like him alone. In the messiness of sharing life, weeping and laughing, giving and receiving we bring glory to God and joy to others. The New Testament is full of “one anothers”. By God’s grace and with lots of help from the Holy Spirit we can serve, love, challenge, remind, protect, confront, and comfort one another.

PUSHING BACK DARKNESS IN COMMUNITY

Community Groups are missional communities seeking to make an eternal impact in our city.

Jesus called his followers the light of the world. We are sent into dark places to shine the light of Jesus. We share his light in word by telling people the good news of the gospel. We share his light in deed by demonstrating his Kingdom in acts of compassion, love, justice, and beauty. We are missionaries to our jobs, schools, friends, neighborhoods and cities. We don’t go alone. Jesus is scattering Community Groups all over the metro to be salt and light in a dark World. Community Groups are much more than once a week gatherings for Christians. Together we can see Jesus change lives and shake a city.
